The COVID-19 pandemic interfered with our lives, as it of course did with the rally season which would be well on its way in a normal year. A tough one to complain about, knowing how many people suffered from COVID and even died. Still, people are happy that the lockdown is lifted bit by bit. And so we could start our first rally of the season.
First I had to resolve a dilemma. What car should I drive ?
Porsche back from the body shop, passed the MOT and as always good to go. Still I decided to take the BMW 3.0 CSi. The E9 came back from the workshop, after some serious work on the injection amongst others. The car was tucked away in a garage for almost 10 years, so doing some distance with it is a good idea.
The third edition of the ‘Perronnekesrally’, and my friend Philippe and me participated in all three of them. A local organization (Lions Club Antwerp Moerland), great people, and lovely cars on the road to Zeeland.
Not really a summer day, rain from time to time, but we were happy to be driving, participating in a rally. Other years the day ends with a bang of a party, due to the current restraints no party but a film (Mama Mia 2) on the airfield of Brasschaat. This is the oldest airfield in Belgium and is still in use. What a great idea, no?
No party on Saturday, means no headache on Sunday. We missed the party but still had a great day. To top it off, look at this fantastic Pan Am van, perfect in place at this setting.
