Friend of the house Nicolas (Roadtrip | The Grand Touring Company) pushed us to participate in the 2023 Classic Days in Dusseldorf. And then he went off on a family trip to Deauville (Normandy).
We decided to go anyway because the former ‘Schloss Dyck’ event Classic Days was on our bucket list anyway. This year it took place from 4-6 August in Green Park Dusseldorf.
We participated in the Classic Days event in a big way. With a Fiat 500 in the Gulf treffen. With a Range Rover Suffis A in the Land Rover treffen and even in the VW Bulli treffen with a yellow T3 camper which was perfect to hide for the rain.
Sommigen van onze groep vertrokken reeds op vrijdag 4 augustus richting Thorn, het bekende charmante ‘witte dorp’ in Nederland, om daar te kamperen aan het meer of te overnachten in een hotel.
The Fiat 500 left on Saturday followed by a 1984 BMW 520. Off to Thorn in the morning, then a short roadtrip from Thorn to Dusseldorf. Late afternoon we arrived in Dusseldorf where we sat down on a covered terrace with a wonderful view on the Rhine. It was so nice that we just stayed put the whole evening.
Sunday we visited the Classic Days event, had a short walk around the park hiding for the rain from time to time. At about 13h30 the organization of Classic Days cancelled the event due to bad weather and to avoid any risk to cars and visitors the venue was cleared. The weather conditions made that we could not fully enjoy the event, and probably it affected the number of visitors and participants. Still, you did not know where to look first. An edition in full swing would appeal to anyone interested in the Motoring & lifestyle culture. Very sad, but we will come back in the future, that is sure.
