A few sunny winterdays are enough to let us dream about spring and summer, when we like to take our classic car for some roadtrips. If you have plans as well to get your classic car out off storage, you will find some usefull tips.
Always a good idea to start with a good hand cleaning of your car. Don’t use a pressure washer or go to the carwash, the risk of damaging you classic is too big. Chrome parts are to be treated with pasta and don’t forget interior and windows. Vacuuming the carpets is absolutely a good plan. If your car has leather seats, treat them with leather conditioner to keep it from drying up and tearing.
Before taking the road check all the fluids. It is even a good idea to give your beloved classic a service to be completely at ease on the road. New oil and lubrication in f.i. gearbox etc. are some of the to do’s.
Check tyre pressure for safety reasons and fuel consumption. Look at the gereral condition of the tyres as well, if they are worn or damaged this is the time to replace the tyres.
Dreaming of taking the road again ? Just one last check of your documents (MOT, insurance, …) and you are ready to plan your first rally of the season.
Of course we at the Classiccarstories workshop are available to help with the to do list of your classic car, book us well in advance so we can plan your car and make sure it is ready for the next roadtrip.
