Yes, it does exist. The Walhalla. For petrolheads it does. There are even several Walhalla’s. Recently we visited one of them: Classic Remise Berlin. It is one of those places where classic & special cars are brought together.

Several related businesses in one location:

  • Car and motor workshops
  • Shops
  • Dealers and showrooms
  • Storage facilities
  • Clubs
  • Events
  • Restaurants and of course a ‘Biergarten’ (it is Germany after all)

The old industrial architecture of the former tram depot combined with classic cars absolutely works. Almost 40 companies are on site and about 7 clubs. Do you understand why I refer to the Walhalla ?

We had a lovely diner in restaurant Trofeo and do want to participate in an event one day.

The 2nd Walhalla is the Classic Remise Düsseldorf. We visited this one with the family in 2014, even my kids were impressed and loved it. Since it is the same concept as the Berlin one, you will find about the same services here.

The building is also an old industrial one, in this case a locomotive roundhouse.

Klassikstadt in Frankfurt is a similar but absolutely not the same Walhalla. This building is a former factory for agricultural machines (Mayfarth) and later on it was a ‘Bundesdruckerei’ where they printed the 50 DM notes. You will certainly need some of these notes when you come shopping here.

Again some 35 companies brought together in one site, and here you even have some co-working spaces. I would go and work there every day, don’t you ?

Germany has an ‚Automobile Kultur‘, the existence of these Walhalla’s prove it. Are there some similar places in other countries ? In the UK probably, I am thinking of Bicester Heritage for instance. If you know Walhalla’s like these, just let me know and I will visit them one day.
